Literally thousands of tons of VOC vapors escape through floating roof perimeter seals each year according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. For this reason, it is imperative that you select the proper perimeter seal for your floating roof storage tanks. You can count on the experts at ALLENTECH to help you decide what best fits your needs and budget.

Customized Floating Roof Seals

Literally thousands of tons of VOC vapors escape through floating roof perimeter seals each year according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. For this reason, it is imperative that you select the proper perimeter seal for your floating roof storage tanks. You can count on the experts at ALLENTECH to help you decide what best fits your needs and budget.

ALLENTECH designs and manufactures a variety of seal systems for all types of roof applications. We can design and supply seals ranging from a basic wiper seal to our exclusive double shoe seal which has the highest degree of chemical resistance and longest life of any double seal ever available. Our patented primary stainless steel mechanical shoe seal has been successfully installed in thousands of tanks since 1992. Inspections of the very first installations, 20 years later, indicate they are still in excellent condition. Whatever your requirements, our experts can recommend a seal which will be custom tailored to your design, operational and budget requirements.

Customized seals are readily available for unusual tank or storage situations. Innovative shoe seal designs include applications for extremely narrow and wide rim spaces and minimum heel designs to increase tank capacity and reduce filling losses.

Installation services are available for domestic projects; contact us for foreign installation options.

Aluminum HC Full Contact Type w/IFR Primary Shoe Seal

The patented ALLENTECH stainless steel mechanical shoe with its Teflon™ vapor barrier was the only shoe seal specifically designed for aluminum internal floating roofs. It offers a 25-year design life and excellent overall performance because of its resistance to most chemical products and ability to stand up to extreme temperature variations. Tightly spaced hoop springs exert a nearly constant force against the tank shell to maintain the seal even around peaked vertical seams and abrupt tank distortions. In fact, capacity loss is reduced by 6" with the ALLENTECH shoe when compared to a double wiper seal.

ALLENTECH's shoe seals can be retro-fitted on most existing aluminum internal floating roofs.
ALLENTECH's primary shoe seal meets current U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requirements without a secondary seal but is available with an independent secondary shoe or wiper seal.

The ALLENTECH double stainless steel shoe seal for internal floating roofs is designed for maximum sealing efficiency, longevity and chemical compatibility. ALLENTECH's double stainless steel shoe is made from materials that withstand harsh chemical and environmental conditions and it offers a 25-year design life. The metallic components are corrosion resistant stainless steel and aluminum. The standard vapor barrier is laminated 100% Teflon™ which is resistant to most products, and the laminated design provides excellent mechanical properties.

With ALLENTECH's double shoe seals, customers can minimize tank outages because of the long life and chemical compatibility of ALLENTECH's double shoe seal.
ALLENTECH's double shoe seals can be retro-fitted on most existing aluminum internal floating roofs and exceed current U.S. Environment Protection Agency requirements.

Primary Shoe Seal with Secondary Wiper Seal

Aluminum HC Full Contact Type IFR w/Primary Shoe & Secondary Wiper Seal

The patented ALLENTECH stainless steel mechanical shoe with its Teflon™ vapor barrier is the only shoe seal specifically designed for aluminum internal floating roofs. It offers a 25-year design life and excellent overall performance because of its resistance to most chemical products and ability to stand up to extreme temperature variations. A ring of tightly spaced hoop springs exert a nearly constant force against the tank shell to maintain the seal even around peaked vertical seams and abrupt tank distortions. The addition of a secondary elastomeric wiper seal helps to reduce emissions even further than just the primary shoe. Wiper seals are available in several materials depending on product service. ALLENTECH’s various seal combinations can be retro-fitted on most existing aluminum internal floating roofs.

Primary Wiper Seal

Primary Wiper Seal

Aluminum HC Full Contact Type IFR w/Primary Wiper Seal

The primary wiper seal is the minimal seal available for internal floating roofs. Although this seal will not meet most environmental regulations, there are instances where they are acceptable. Available in several elastomeric and foamed materials, these seals typically have limited product compatibility and temperature ranges.

Double Wiper Seal

The double wiper seal meets current U.S. environmental regulations and is commonly used on riveted above ground tanks where shoe seals are not the most effective, and on internally coated tanks where a shoe seal could abrade the coating. Available in several elastomeric and foamed materials, these seals typically have limited product compatibility and temperature ranges.
